Other Places To Find Coupons

Once you become attuned to seeking coupons, you are apt to find them all around you and you’ll likely be surprised at how many you have overlooked in the past. It only takes being alert to realize that coupons can be found in many places right under your nose. Before you toss out those brochures, junk mail, even packaging, skim through them. Here are a few examples to get you started:

** FREE SAMPLE: Manufacturers want you to sample their products. They also want you to head out to the store and buy their products and to encourage you to do this they will sometimes give away free samples. Sign up for free samples of any products, or brands for which you may want coupons.
While you are signing up for samples and newsletters, check the box to receive future promotions by mail. You may be surprised at what shows up periodically in your mailbox.

** JUNK MAIL: Most people don’t like being on mailing lists for stores and products they are not familiar with, but before you discard that circular or flyer, take a few seconds to open it up. It may just be filled with incentives to change your mind

** CUSTOMER LOYALTY CARDS: If you thought the customer loyalty cards were just a means of tracking your purchases while allowing you to receive the sales prices, think again. Many stores tailor coupons at check out, and in the mail, to your specific shopping patterns. If you purchased dog food at one store for several weeks, but haven’t lately, your junk mail may include store coupons to reclaim your business.

** INSTANT WIN GAMES: An increasing trend among manufacturers provides coupons as a prize for instant win games and sweepstakes. Healthy Choice, Dannon, Kraft, Calgon, Clorox, Nestle, Coca-Cola, to name but a few, all have offered coupons as prizes for instant win games. The best chances for winning are in the first few days of the game, and towards the end, when all prizes must be awarded.

**MAGAZINES: Magazines have long been a source of coupons. While the times and styles have changed, coupon inserts are frequently found in women’s magazines. Coupons printed within the pages are less common, but are frequently found in targeted audience magazines. Natural Health frequently has coupons for natural/organic products. Men’s Health magazine usually contains coupons for protein bars, codes for free samples and coupons for nutrition or body building products. The frequency and exact coupons vary, but check your pages before discarding your favorite periodicals.

** OTHER SOURCES: Coupons can be found almost anywhere there is print space. Coupons are commonly available printed inside cardboard product packaging, such as cereal boxes, frozen dinners, yogurt packs, to name a few. Coupons also often tucked behind labels on cans! While the exterior of the package often indicates coupons are present, it’s not always obvious, as in the above Scotch tape coupon. Remember, if print space is available, a manufacturer may be using it for a coupon, so be on the alert when you see printing anywhere unusual.

Best Places To Find Coupns

** Sunday newspapers have always been one of the most popular resources for grocery coupons. But within the same city, not every newspaper will have the same coupon inserts.
Before subscribing to the local Sunday newspaper in order to get coupons, it is helpful to compare all the available newspapers and look over the coupon inserts. Different newspapers can be found at a newspaper stand or store, the local library or any large public place such as an airport or hotel. Even your favorite coffee shop may have more than one newspaper laying around for the customers to read.
The Sunday newspaper is usually stuffed with national printed inserts of coupons and the national grocery ads along with retail sales inserts.

** Magazines are an excellent place to find coupons. For grocery and household coupons, magazines targeted to women are the best source. Family Circle, Woman's Day, Woman's World and Good Housekeeping are examples of the type of magazines which carry grocery coupons on a regular basis.
Many times the coupons found in magazines have a longer time period before expiring than those found in newspaper inserts. Also, the magazine coupons tend to be more seasonal. For example, coupons for food products used in popular holiday recipes can often be found as well as exclusive offers.

** An excellent place to find coupons is in the grocery store. But it can be a challenging task for thrifty shoppers to keep up with shopping lists, clipped coupons plus spot all the coupons displayed throughout the store. Luckily most manufactures realize this and have product promotions that are brightly colored which catch your eye, dispensers with blinking lights, and "pop up" ads that are quickly spotted.
As you become more familiar with what the coupon dispenser look like and where they are generally placed, it will become easier to find them and take advantage of the offers.

Tips & Warnings About Using Coupons At Walmart

** Keep a copy of Walmart's coupon policy with you when you are redeeming coupons. Sometimes cashiers and even managers don't know their own corporate policy on accepting coupons. You will be able to educate them!

** If you have a coupon that is good for more than the price of the item and they balk just suggest that adjusting the coupon value down to the cost of the item, i.e. adjust a $5 Zantac coupon down to $3.98 which is our local price.

** If you accumulate more groceries than you need, donate it to a charity such as a food pantry or homeless shelter.

** If you have more than 40 coupons to redeem, ask to speak to a manager for prior approval.

** Be certain that you meet the terms of each coupon and that the coupon has not expired.

** As you acquire coupons cut out all the coupons in each source that match or exceed Walmart's "Everyday Low Price" for that item and store them in an envelope in your purse or vehicle. That way every time you drop into Walmart unexpectedly you can redeem them without further planning.

** Print a copy of Walmart's Coupon Policy and keep it with your coupons so that you can educate your cashier and/or manager when necessary.

** Be aware that not all cashiers or even managers understand coupon lingo and/or their corporate policies on coupons.

How To Get Free Food With Coupons At Walmart

1) Collect coupons. No way around it. Coupons are your ticket for free food. The best source for them is the newspaper coupon inserts. Collect these from friends and others in your community, from recycle bins and hotel lobbies. Use your computer to print them off the internet. Get them any way you can, the more the better. You want multiple copies of the same coupon. You can also email companies and request coupons. And you can buy them for pennies as well. Keep them all well-organized in a way that makes sense to you. And keep them until they expire. They can be left uncut until you need them. Be sure that you understand the terms used.

2) Keep your finger on the pulse of the internet coupon groups such as HotCouponWorld (my favorite), AFullCup and SlickDeals. Check into their Walmart forums every few days to see what good deals others have found. Also, since Walmart will match any advertised sale price in other local stores. keep your eye on sales at in the other forums for your local stores.

3) Good deals come in three varieties at Walmart. The first good deal comes in the form of a Walmart's "Everyday Low Price" variety. Walmart does actually have low prices on a great many things. Some high value coupons cover the entire purchase price of some regularly priced items at Walmart. Kraft Live Active Cereal, Johnson's Buddies bar soap, KY Jelly, Zone Nutrition Bars, Kotex Pantiliners, Frito-Lay chips single serve bags, Zantac Maximum Strength have all been free or less than $0.05ea with coupon in the last three months. These are the easiest kind of good deal to take advantage of because the price of the item is constant. All you have to do is make sure you can get into Walmart to redeem it before it expires (and hope they have it in stock).Secondly, Walmart sometimes does "price rollbacks" - Walmart's term for a sale. At which stores these rollbacks occur and how long they last vary widely. So the price always bears checking before buying. Don't assume that just because you read that they're on sale in one store that they will be the same price at another. Thirdly, Walmart matches the advertised sale prices of other local stores. If Dove Shampoo is advertised as $1.99 at your local drugstore, you can bring that ad into Walmart and get that same price for the shampoo provided it is exactly the same brand and size.

4) Once you have found a potential great deal, gather your coupons and zoom on over to Walmart. Coupons are considered a form of payment so simply hand them over when it is time to pay. When there is a good deal, that's the time to stock up! Get enough for at least several months time. If your pantry won't hold it all, store it in a box under your bed or behind the couch or in the basement. Be creative!
